In a teamwork-based system not only some facts of the not-winning experts are
transmitted to the winning expert, but the resulting seach state is transmitted
back to all experts. So, all experts start their next working period from the
same point in the search space. But the experts still use their own different
problem solving strategies. This way, the situation in our picture can quickly
be reached.
The start from a common search state has two effects:
Although the best expert may have a good start point, the chances to find
a solution are better, if all experts have this start point and search
then in different directions (as one can see in the picture, not the
expert that was the winner goes into the direction of the nearest solution
but one of the loosers).
The common start state allows the usage of experts that can get lost in the
search space (this means that they go into regions of the search space that
do not contain solutions). These experts can be exchanged and their
successors do not
have to cope with the bad situation their predecessors left them in.
So, the team meetings allow to focus the team on
the given task.
